Requirements include nursing licensure with EMT/EMT-P or RN credentials, CPR/AED, and clinical experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; nursing program graduate with state requirements.
• Licensed or certified in the state for EMT-B/EMT-A/EMT-I/EMT-P, LPN/LVN, or RN; CPR/AED certification; able to perform basic IV therapy; FDA training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist; two years in clinical/hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility including informed consent, AIDS education, self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, and SPE review.
• Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs.
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies including standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.
• Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees; manage employee incidents per EHS guidance.
• Possibility to act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist investigations.
