Job summary

The scribe documents office notes, transcribes encounters into the EMR, and assists in coordinating treatment plans, such as electronic prescriptions and referrals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Basic medical knowledge; ENT knowledge preferred.
• Excellent listening and typing skills.
• Experience with Allscripts or EMR preferred.

Responsibilities

• Listen carefully to the physician’s dictation and record the visit.
• Transcribe the encounter into the EMR accurately and quickly.
• Document history of present illness, ROS, exam and imaging results.
• Assist in coordinating treatment plans, e-prescriptions and referrals.
• Navigate the EMR and related applications, including lab results and ultrasound images.
• Summarize complex medical information clearly and concisely for professional documentation.
• Improve workflow efficiencies and support provider documentation in real time.
• Facilitate efficient patient flow so clinicians can focus on care.
• Attend required meetings.
• Must be available Monday–Friday and travel to all Virginia ENT locations.
