Job summary

Cancer Care Northwest is seeking a dedicated transcriptionist to support physicians by transcribing patient encounters into the EMR with accuracy and confidentiality.

Qualifications include knowledge of medical terminology, 45+ WPM typing, and preferred prior transcription experience. This on-site role may require irregular hours and offers a collaborative, patient-centered work environment.

Qualifications

• A High School Diploma or a General Education Degree
• demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
• previous experience as a transcriptionist or scribe (preferred)
• Associates degree or some college-level education (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Accompany physician/provider during the patient examination to transcribe in the EMR the nature of the patient visit.
• Transcribes dictation for a variety of medical reports including patient histories, physical examinations, ER visits, operations, chart reviews, consultations, or discharge summaries.
• Reviews and edits reports or dictated material for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper medical terminology.
• Projects a professional demeanor and appearance while maintaining patient confidentiality per policies and procedures.
• Ability to relate and work effectively with others.
• Demonstrated skills in verbal and written English communication.
• Demonstrated computers skills utilizing word processing, integrated databases, and other functions.
• Ability to type accurately at 45+ words per minute.
• Knowledge and demonstration of proper grammar and spelling in documentation, write concisely, clearly and logically.
• Willingness to participate in goal-setting and educational activities for own growth and advancements
• Hours of duty may be irregular or extended due to daily physician schedule
• Assists with other duties as assigned
