Job summary

Boomerang Healthcare seeks a Medical Scribe to help physicians focus on patient care by accurately documenting visits, managing electronic medical records, and coordinating referrals. The role requires on-site work at the Brentwood/Walnut Creek clinics and collaboration with nursing and provider staff.

Qualified candidates have a High School Diploma or GED, a Medical Assistant course, and BCLS with AED. Spanish/English bilingual ability is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant course from an accredited/recognized school.
• Current BCLS with AED certificates.
• Experience in a medical clinic, hospital or SNF setting: 1 year.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend medical documentation.
• Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
• Must be comfortable using Electronic Medical Record software (we will train).
• Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written.
• Excellent interpersonal skills required to communicate with patients, medical professionals, and co-workers.
• Knowledge of confidentiality per HIPAA, treatment, and safety guidelines.
• Ability to anticipate patient needs and take proactive measures.

Responsibilities

• Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as performed by the physician.
• Document patient medical history and physical exams.
• Record procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals.
• Educate patients and explain risks and benefits.
• Record physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions and instructions.
• Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician.
• Handle dictation, faxing, phone calls and clerical tasks.
• Spot mistakes in medical documentation and correct errors.
• Support quality reporting and follow-up tracking systems.
• Proofread and edit physician documents for accuracy.
