Job description

The Opportunity

Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting registration procedures to verify donor suitability for plasma pheresis.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

1. Assist qualified donors in completing screening processes in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This includes assessing health history, answering medical questions, referring donors to medical staff when needed, and performing health screenings such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, and temperature. Perform finger sticks to obtain samples for hematocrit and protein levels.
2. After appropriate training, educate new donors about therapeutic products derived from plasma, explaining the screening process, tests, appointment system, donation fees, policies, nutrition, and other relevant information. Ensure all donor questions are answered professionally and promptly.
3. Register applicants and transfer donors as trained, based on operational needs.
4. Answer phone calls and direct callers to appropriate staff.
5. Monitor donors for reactions during or after pheresis and notify staff if needed.
6. Alert supervisors of donor flow issues.
7. Accurately record donor data in the electronic management system following SOPs.
8. Understand policies related to hyperimmune programs if applicable.
9. Maintain a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring supplies are available, and follow all HSE and OSHA policies to promote safety.
10. Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
11. Cross-train in other areas as needed.
12. Possibly require bilingual skills to meet organizational needs.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Experience

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

• At least three months in a clerical or customer service role, preferably in a healthcare setting, or equivalent education and experience.
• Basic math skills required.

Working Conditions

• Follow oral and written instructions.
• Observe and operate equipment, communicate with customers.
• Stand and walk frequently, reach, bend, kneel, and have manual dexterity.
• Lift and carry up to 25 pounds occasionally.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.
• Exposure to chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.
• Wear PPE as required.
• Work overtime and extended hours as needed.
