Surgery Scheduler needed in Plano TX, $22/hr

Strongly preferred Cardiovascular background and able to handle high call volume. Flexibility for cross training is must. 2+ years of surgery scheduling experience required 13 week assignment Monday-Friday 8am-5pm Required Medical Clinic experience. Strongly preferred Cardiovascular background.

Duties

• Schedule surgeries efficiently by coordinating with physicians, patients, and surgical staff using advanced EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks


• Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain pre-authorizations for procedures in compliance with health insurance policies including Medicare and HIPAA regulations


• Review medical documentation, care plans, and clinical notes to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to scheduling


• Maintain detailed records of surgery dates, patient information, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD-9/ICD-10 diagnosis codes, and billing details


• Communicate clearly with patients via phone and front desk interactions regarding appointment details, preparation instructions, and post-operative follow-up


• Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure all necessary medical records are prepared and available for upcoming surgeries


• Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems efficiently while adhering to confidentiality policies and medical terminology standards


• Must have updated immunizations, including TDAP, hep B, Varicella, MMR, TB and flu. Also will need to pass a background check and drug screen
