Job summary

The Neurology Center is seeking an experienced Medical Scheduler to join our busy outpatient practice in Carlsbad, CA. You will manage scheduling for multiple providers, verify insurance, and coordinate referrals and authorizations with a patient-centered approach.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year of scheduling experience, familiarity with HMO/PPO/Medicare plans, and EPIC or other EMR experience. You will communicate professionally with patients, physicians, and insurers while maintaining

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of medical scheduling experience, neurology preferred.
• Experience with HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and commercial plans.
• Knowledge of referrals, authorizations, and IPA processes.
• Ability to obtain prior authorizations and referrals.
• Experience using an EMR; Epic preferred.
• Excellent communication and phone etiquette.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to multitask in a high-volume medical office.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Schedule new and follow-up appointments for multiple neurology providers.
• Review referrals and schedule patients per diagnosis and provider preferences.
• Verify insurance eligibility (HMO, PPO, Medicare, Medicare Advantage, and commercial).
• Understand medical groups, IPA requirements, referrals, and authorizations.
• Identify required authorizations and ensure documentation is received prior to scheduling.
• Communicate professionally with patients, referring providers, insurers, and staff.
• Maintain accurate patient demographics and insurance information in the EMR.
• Answer a high volume of inbound and outbound calls with exceptional service.
• Reschedule appointments, manage waitlists, and fill cancellations as needed.
• Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain patient confidentiality.

Requirements
