Job summary

Allegheny Health Network is seeking an HIM-oriented professional to manage discharge records, assemble and index charts, and scan patient documents for encounters. You will also handle requests for health information and ensure compliance with procedures and legislative requirements.

The role emphasizes accuracy in chart organization, information retrieval, and collaboration with physicians, patients, and Health Center departments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months experience within HIM preferred and cross trained in two of the following functions: prepping, scanning or indexing, electronic medical record, data integrity functions, transcription outsourced duties, data entry and/or perform system testing.
• Preferred Certificate or degree from college or technical school or three to six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Accounts for records upon discharge and follows up to locate missing records where applicable.
• Assembles records into proper chart order.
• Scans patient records and loose sheets to patient encounters.
• Indexes patient records to ensure scanning quality according to procedure.
• Provides reception and processing of requests for all information for all chart requests.
• Retrieve records and loose sheets from floors for processing.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
