Job summary

LewisGale Hospital Montgomery, part of the HCA Healthcare family, is seeking a Medical Records Specialist to support HIM operations and ensure accurate record handling. You will manage HPF/MPF workflows, coordinate with departments, and maintain meticulous records across the lifecycle of patient documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Hospital or medical office experience preferred.
• Completing a state certification for birth certificate processing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Retrieves discharged medical records and reconciles them to ensure all records are accounted for.
• Facilitates retrieval from storage, printing, and archival of records not scanned.
• Assist with physician suspensions by evaluating candidates and preparing lists for approval.
• Prepare medical records and documents for scanning.
• Scan medical record documents and index them.
• Perform quality control validation to ensure all documents are scanned per record.
• Complete any required certification programs and continuing education for birth certificate processing.
• Interact with parents to collect birth information and guide form completion.
• Assist with Acknowledgment of Paternity forms, requiring diplomacy in sensitive situations.
• Review patient records and resources to obtain required birth information.
