Job summary

Pain Institute of Southern Arizona is seeking a Medical Record Specialist to maintain and safeguard patient records, ensure accuracy and confidentiality, and support regulatory compliance within our clinic. You will manage electronic and paper records, process requests, and assist with audits and quality improvement initiatives, collaborating with physicians and staff to resolve documentation issues.

Candidates should have a high school diploma (associates preferred), familiarity with EHR

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
  • Experience in medical records, health information management, or healthcare admin role preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare documentation.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Understanding of healthcare privacy and confidentiality regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and general computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update patient records in electronic and paper formats.
  • Review records for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
  • Retrieve, file, scan, and archive patient documents as needed.
  • Process requests for medical records while ensuring privacy compliance.
  • Protect the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with regulations.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to resolve documentation issues.
  • Monitor documentation for missing or incomplete information and follow up with staff.
  • Prepare reports and maintain record retention according to policies.
  • Assist with audits, accreditation activities, and quality improvement initiatives.
