Primary Care Partners in Lincoln, NE is seeking a Medical Records Specialist to ensure accurate patient information flows securely throughout the practice. You will manage ABNs, orders, UAs, and provider paperwork, scan records, handle subpoenas, and respond to requests with precision and on time.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in a medical office setting.
• Strong mathematical skills.
• Proficiency in Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
• Strong people skills and high emotional intelligence.

Responsibilities

• Review outboxes throughout the office — sorting and routing ABNs, orders, UAs, and provider paperwork to the right destinations
• Sort and distribute faxes, and route provider faxes where they need to go
• Respond to Taskman requests from providers and retrieve needed records promptly
• Distribute prescriptions, nursing home paperwork, and other documents requiring provider signatures
• Print and prepare record requests for upcoming patient appointments
• Process transfer-of-records and release-of-information requests accurately and within required timeframes (typically 30 days)
• Verify that release forms are completed correctly and confirm receipt
• Handle subpoenas end to end — logging dates, contacting patients for signed releases, assembling records for the correct timeframe, tracking time, invoicing, and delivering to the requesting firm
• Scan documents, ER visits, EKGs, and direct-email records into patient charts promptly so visits get proper credit
• Answer and respond to phone calls, and redirect faxes sent to the wrong provider
