Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent required.
• Completion of medical terminology coursework within 6 months of start date required.
• Participates in mandatory in-service training and continuing education programs as mandated by policies and procedures/external agencies and as directed by supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial Quality Assurance (QA) of inpatient, outpatient surgery, and rehab records to ensure completeness and regulatory compliance.
• Abstracts medical records with 98% accuracy to maintain a valid database.
• Ensures medical records are available for coding and physician completion to meet Joint Commission standards and departmental goals.
