Job description

At GMKE, we know that great talent drives great outcomes.

For the last 19 years, our attorneys have built a reputation as unyielding advocates for insureds facing litigation and trusted partners to insurance companies working to manage risk responsibly.

We’ve done this by staying true to our mission, living our values, and taking a real, practical approach to every case — delivering consistently excellent results in the courtroom.

Who We Are

Groth, Makarenko, Kaiser & Eidex is a premier civil defense firm in the Southeast building the future of insurance defense to ensure the best outcome for every carrier and every insured, in every case.

Our values – sincerely diligent, honorably competitive, accountability, client service, and united in collaboration – shape the way we approach each case and every relationship, acting as our guiding light in all that we do.

GMKE is more than just a firm; it’s a community of diverse, growth-minded people, each drawn to our dynamic environment and mission, as we expand our reach throughout the Southeast.

Why GMKE
  • Compensation That Works for You: We offer pay that reflects your responsibilities and contributions, a 401(k) with a 4% match and no vesting period, and free healthcare coverage for individual employees. Bonuses are paid out quarterly — so instead of waiting until year-end, you see the rewards of your work faster. Paralegals have a 1,560-hour billable requirement, making quarterly bonuses realistically within reach.
  • PTO That Starts Strong and Gets Better: 15 days of PTO are front-loaded each January. No accruals, no blackout periods — just time off you can actually use. This position is also eligible for PTO rollover.
  • Balance That’s Built In: We work hard during core hours — but we leave space for your life before and after. With a 37.5-hour workweek, one remote day each week, and achievable goals, you’ll find it possible to do great work and still have a full life outside of it.
  • A Culture That Champions You: We move fast, support one another, and keep growing. Learning is a key part of our culture — and while you’re expected to take initiative, we’ve built out helpful resources, and our team (including partners) is always open and happy to help when you reach out. It’s a community that’s collaborative, not competitive — with real opportunity to make your mark.
About The Role

As a Medical Records Paralegal at GMKE, you are the backbone of every case, ensuring that attorneys have the critical records, summaries, and documentation needed to build a strong legal defense. As the backbone of case development, you will be responsible for requesting, tracking, summarizing, and organizing medical records, insurance files, and other key documents. With a keen eye for detail and an analytical mindset, you will uncover key medical information, highlight discrepancies, and prepare chronologies that provide attorneys with clear, concise insights—work that shapes the foundation of each case and allows us to defend our clients to the fullest extent.
