Job summary

Crestwood Behavioral Health, Inc. in California is seeking a Health Information Coordinator (Medical Records) to oversee the HIM department, maintain complete health records, and ensure accuracy to minimize liability.

You will collaborate with administrators, nursing leadership, and program directors, provide clerical support, and ensure compliance with governing regulations while supporting staff and persons served.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 1 year of experience in a health-related field.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Basic computer and typing/data entry skills.
• General office skills, including filing and organizing.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in clerical procedures and computers.
• Demonstrates willingness to learn.
• Ability to work systematically and show initiative without continuous supervision.
• Ability to work within a team and with governing regulations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and support the HIM Department and monitor health records for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain health records for all served individuals and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Interact professionally with staff, persons served, and families; liaise with administrators and nursing/director-level staff.
• Report to the Administrator or designee; collaborate with the Director of Nursing and other department heads.
• Receive guidance from the corporate Health Information Department as required by program regulations.
