Job summary

Brightli is seeking a Medical Record Specialist to manage and secure medical records and treatment information from hospitals and providers. The role supports the HIM department’s communications via phone, fax, and email, ensuring continuity of care documentation in the EHR, and back-filling HIM needs.

The position emphasizes accurate data entry, HIPAA compliance, collaboration across departments, and reliable attendance.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in medical records management or related area preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient with computers and MS Office.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI and confidentiality requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prompt, compliant, consistent, efficient delivery and retrieval of medical records and release of information.
• Respond to verbal and written requests for information within required turnaround times.
• Coordinate with internal departments and healthcare providers to ensure record accuracy.
• Review and update medical records, identify deficiencies, track external records.
• Support Hospital Discharge Summary Request Tracking and EMR records scanning/indexing.
