Job summary

The Alden Network in Illinois is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to compile, process, and maintain resident records in the facility's electronic system, in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations.

You will coordinate medical record requests, protect confidentiality, and work with the billing and legal teams while providing accurate, timely documentation and supporting compliance across departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in a long-term care facility is a plus.
• Must read, write, and speak English clearly.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to follow directions and work independently.
• Basic computer skills including Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Maintain resident medical records in the electronic system.
• Coordinate processing of medical record requests from residents and external entities.
• Scan paper documents into the resident’s chart.
• Ensure timely certifications/re-certifications for Medicare patients.
• Release information per regulations and facility policy.
• Protect medical record information and confidentiality.
• Assist residents with review of records per guidelines.
• Interface with Legal and Billing departments for records.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
