Job summary

Cherry County Hospital & Clinic is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk with Coding to maintain patient records, support coding, and assist with billing workflows.

The role reports to the Health Information Manager, is full-time 40 hours per week, and requires HIPAA familiarity, strong computer skills, and knowledge of ICD/CPT coding.

You will handle records, respond to requests, and ensure confidentiality while contributing to quality patient care and compliant documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong computer, keyboarding, and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and with healthcare professionals.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD/CPT coding, and HIPAA regulations.
• Willingness to complete medical terminology and coding coursework if needed.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, scan, and organize patient medical records.
• Process medical record requests per HIPAA and hospital policies.
• Assign ICD and CPT codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Assist with birth certificates, statistical reports, and medical staff files.
• Review records for completeness and communicate with providers.
• Support billing with coding-related claim issues.
• Answer phones, respond to emails, and perform clerical duties.
• Maintain patient confidentiality.
