Qualifications

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) upon hire.
• Certified Coding Associate (CCA) upon hire.
• Certified Coding Specialist - Physician Based (CCS-PB) upon hire.
• Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) upon hire.
• RHIT certification upon hire.
• Cardiology Coding experience or certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Abstract and code patient records in accordance with coding, billing, and data collection guidelines.
• Review medical records to determine diagnoses using ICD-9-CM and CPT-4 rules.
• Assign MS-DRG and APC codes and sequence codes accurately.
• Validate charges against medical documentation and rectify discrepancies with management.
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards in medical billing.
