Job summary

Harrison County Hospital is seeking a Certified Medical Coder (CCS) to join our health information management team in Corydon, Indiana. The full-time position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm, 40 hours per week, reporting to the HIM Director.

The coder will assign ICD-10-CM diagnosis and CPT procedure codes for inpatient and outpatient charts for billing and classification, ensuring compliance with Medicare/Medicaid and corporate policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Excellent ICD-10-CM, CPT, and CCS coding skills.
• Detailed knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy/physiology.
• Desire one year coding work experience in hospital or physician setting.
• Desire certifications such as CCS, ARRT or RRA.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10 diagnosis and CPT procedure codes for inpatient and outpatient charts.
• Code for billing and classification of medical records.
• Ensure compliance with third party reimbursement rules and regulations.

Job description

Harrison County Hospital is seeking a Certified Medical Coder (CCS).

This position is full-time, Monday through Friday 8a-4:30p, 40 hours per week.

The Coder reports directly to the HIM Director. The Coder performs the assignment of ICD-10 diagnosis and procedures and CPT procedure codes for billing and classification of medical records for both Inpatient and Outpatient charts.

Regulatory Requirements

• Must have detailed knowledge of third party reimbursement rules and regulations including Medicare and Medicaid.
• Complies and adheres to the Corporate Compliance Program.

Language Skills

• Must be able to speak English fluently.
• Must be able to speak and understand medical terminology.

Education/Experience

• Must have high school education.
• Must have excellent ICD-10-CM, CPT, and CCS coding skills.
• Must have detailed knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy/physiology.
• Desire one year coding work experience in the hospital or physician setting.
• Desire a certified coding specialist, accredited record technician, registered records administrator.
