Northern Counties Health Care, Inc. is seeking a friendly Medical Receptionist to greet patients, manage appointments, and support front-desk operations across our clinics in Vermont.

You will maintain patient records, handle phone inquiries, and coordinate communications between patients and providers to ensure a smooth visit. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, maintains confidentiality, and is proficient with basic computer tasks (email, spreadsheets, document processing).

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One year of receptionist experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills (email, spreadsheets, document processing).
  • Physically able to perform job duties (sit for long periods, lift up to 25 lbs., use office equipment).

Responsibilities

  • Receive patients in a courteous and friendly manner; answer questions regarding the health center's programs and services.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, perform initial triage, and forward calls to the appropriate staff member; take messages as appropriate.
  • Coordinate the processing of patients with nursing and provider staffs.
  • Schedule patient appointments per health center policies and procedures.
  • Assist patients and clinical staff in scheduling referral appointments.
  • Register patients and update registration information as necessary.
  • Prepare medical records for new patients; update records for return patients.
  • Process requests for medical records to and from other offices.
  • May perform typing and photocopying as necessary.
  • Participate in clerical support of audits and quality assurance activities.
  • Participate in development, implementation, audit, and continuous evaluation of protocols, services and programs.

The Medical Receptionist is responsible for a variety of tasks related to patient care and administrative support. They greet patients, manage appointments, handle patient records, and facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers. Their role is crucial for ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience while also supporting the overall operations of the clinic.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities:
Reception
  • Receive patients in a courteous and friendly manner; answer questions regarding the health center's programs and services.
