Base pay range

$17.00/hr - $23.00/hr

miCare is currently seeking a Medical Receptionist! This position is responsible for tending to patients' needs on the phone and in person. They coordinate and organize appointments and documentation to facilitate the smooth running of our miCare Health Center and support delivery of quality patient care. This position will also perform applicable office and clerical duties as related to the daily miCare Health Center operation.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  1. General Medical Receptionist Duties
    • Welcomes and greets patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.
    • Assists patients with check-in process.
    • Optimizes patients' satisfaction, provider time, and treatment room utilization by scheduling appointments in person or by telephone.
    • Keeps patient appointments on schedule by notifying provider of patient's arrival; reviewing service delivery compared to schedule; reminding provider of service delays.
    • Schedule appointments for new and recurring patients based on staff and provider availability.
    • Ensures availability of treatment information by filing and retrieving patient records.
    • Maintains business office inventory and equipment by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; scheduling equipment service and repairs.
    • Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
    • Maintains operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
    • Call patients to remind them of upcoming appointments and to help them schedule testing for off-site site services.
    • Maintains a welcoming reception area that is clean and comfortable.
    • Acts as a role model in demonstrating the core values in customer service delivery.
    • Provides timely and thorough follow-up with internal and external customers.
    • Appropriately escalates difficult issues up the chain of command.
    • Serves on committees, work groups, and/or process improvement teams, as assigned, to assist in improving quality/customer satisfaction.
    • Recognizes and alerts appropriate supervisor of trends within their scope of responsibility that fall outside of quality parameters.
    • Performs self-quality monitoring to develop and execute plans to meet established goals.
    • Provides ongoing feedback to help optimize quality performance.
    • Collaborates with others and cross-departmentally to improve or streamline procedures.
    • Develops new or improves current internal processes to improve quality.
    • Trains new employees as assigned.
  2. Required Experience / Education
    • High school diploma/GED required (Associate degree preferred).
    • 1+ years of experience working in a medical office or administrative/clerical position.
    • Previous experience and/or ability to work in an electronic health record. Familiarity with eClinicalWorks a plus.
    • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks based on importance.
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
    • Working knowledge of computers and software including Microsoft Office products.
    • Proficient typing skills.
    • Demonstrated organizational skills, problem-solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
    • Ability to work independently, prioritize workloads, multitask, and manage deadlines.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected health information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
