Summary

The Medical Receptionist is a full-time, 40 hours per week position. This role involves cross-training in all front desk duties including check-in, check-out, chart prep, operator, and more. The candidate will represent the practice professionally, travel as needed, and must be flexible. Strong customer service skills are essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and entering information into the computer.
  • Answering calls, assisting with inquiries, and forwarding messages.
  • Reminding patients about portal access, bringing insurance cards, and managing referrals.
  • Utilizing the White Book as a daily resource and staying updated on managed care plans.
  • Maintaining the reception area and participating in staff meetings.
  • Complying with HIPAA and office policies.
  • Performing check-in, check-out, operator, chart prep, and floater duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills with professionalism and respect.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Motivated to learn.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED required.

Additional Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents and manuals.
  • Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Word and Google programs.
  • Basic math skills involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division with money.
  • Ability to understand and apply instructions and solve problems.

Certifications and Physical Demands

No specific licenses required. The role involves standing, walking, sitting, and occasional lifting up to 10 pounds. Reasonable accommodations can be made for disabilities.
