Position : Medical Receptionist
Location : Cape Peninsula (Candidates may reside in surrounding areas, including Hout Bay, Muizenberg, and nearby coastal or southern peninsula communities)

Our client, a high-volume and well-established Medical Centre, is seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join their dynamic team. Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Patient Liaison
- Greet and assist all patients in a professional and compassionate manner.
- Manage patient queries, appointments, and walk-ins.
- Maintain and update patient records with accuracy and confidentiality.
- Open new patient files, ensuring complete documentation.
- Call Handling: Professionally manage incoming calls and redirect them to the relevant departments.
- Respond to patient inquiries via phone and email in a timely manner.
Billing & Payment Processing
- Capture payments (cash, card, EFT), issue receipts, and balance tills daily.
- Reconcile charge sheets and ensure accurate data submission.
- Inform patients of outstanding balances and ensure payment collection prior to departure.
- Document payment arrangements and unresolved accounts for credit control follow-up.
Appointment Scheduling
- Efficiently book and manage patient consultations and follow-up visits.
- Coordinate appointments based on doctor availability and patient needs.
Administrative Support
- File patient records, lab results, and specialist reports in designated systems.
- Prepare daily financial reports and ensure reconciliation of all transactions.
- Ensure patients leave with a printed invoice or statement.
Compliance & Confidentiality
- Adhere to patient confidentiality and practice data protection policies.
- Ensure all documentation is filed and stored in compliance with medical regulations.
Specialist & Occupational Health Support
- Process specialist referral authorizations and injury-on-duty documentation.
- Submit related paperwork accurately and within required timeframes.
Stock & Supplies Management
- Monitor and replenish essential supplies (patient files, script pads, sick notes).
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications :
- Matric (Grade 12) – essential
- A valid driver’s license and own transport – advantageous
Experience :
- 3–5 years in a similar medical receptionist / administrative role – essential
- Experience in a high-volume, fast-paced medical environment – highly advantageous
Technical Skills :
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Familiarity with medical billing software and administrative tools
- Experience with Elixir Classic – advantageous
Remuneration :
- Market-related, based on experience
