POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Serves as a first point of contact for external customers in the office and on the phone, acting as a liaison between patients and medical staff. Greets, instructs, and assists patients in obtaining services within the office. Communicates patient and visit information to billing staff and facilitates efficient patient flow and billing processes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Medical Receptionist I Responsibilities:
- Greeting patients courteously and meeting their needs.
- Gathering patient registration info, verifying insurance, preparing charts, and notifying staff of arrivals.
- Completing forms, collecting payments, and posting charges.
- Managing EMR/paper charts and reports.
- Answering calls and managing messages.
- Scheduling and confirming appointments.
- Assisting with rescheduling and patient outreach.
- Sending out new patient paperwork.
- Managing the Work Queue.
- Supporting billing and overdue report management.
- Maintaining a neat work environment.
- Participating in meetings and training.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities for Specific Roles:
- Refugee Population: Intake, communication with support staff, translation coordination, data entry, and reporting.
- Digital Campaigns: Following up on applications, sending paperwork, and seminar sign-ups.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED; age 15-17 with work permit.
- Preferred: coursework in insurance/billing or medical practice.
- Experience: 1-2 years in medical or customer service environment preferred.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS (Skills & Abilities):
- Insurance verification understanding.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Proficient with electronic medical records, MS Office, and computer navigation.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Teamwork, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Ability to drive between sites if needed.
- Complete IHA training within the introductory period.
PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL EXPECTATIONS:
- Keyboarding, filing, phone work, and computer use.
- Occasional walking, standing, bending, lifting under 30 lbs.
- Visual and manual dexterity requirements.
- Work in a typical office environment with some exposure to contagious diseases.
