Position Overview
The Receptionist is responsible for the smooth and efficient scheduling of office visits in accordance with the templates and parameters set by the physicians, as well as front-end office operations.
Reporting Line
Reports to the Practice Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet patients professionally upon arrival, verify insurance, HIPAA information, and patient demographics, and update records as needed.
- Provide excellent patient service and obtain all necessary patient consents.
- Collect copayments and balances due at the time of visit.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and co-pay information.
- Update patient status in the system and document all interactions accurately.
- Answer incoming calls professionally, screen, and direct calls appropriately.
- Retrieve and respond to messages from answering services and voicemails, documenting calls in the EMR.
- Triages medically appropriate calls to nursing staff or providers.
- Handle testing requisitions, schedule ancillary tests, and manage referrals, documenting all follow-up in the EMR.
- Schedule and reschedule patient appointments, providing necessary information and instructions.
- Update schedules and maximize physician appointment volumes.
- Manage incoming documents, scanning, and routing as required.
- Provide coverage for Saturday clinics, Flu Clinics, or extended hours as needed.
- Maintain professionalism with patients, peers, and staff.
- Participate in marketing, customer service, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Complete training, report equipment issues, and perform other tasks as assigned.
- Handle medical records requests, patient portal information, and non-clinical patient questions.
- Manage insurance referrals, authorizations, and provider summaries.
- Reconcile daily cash, prepare deposits, and maintain tidiness of work areas.
- Attend staff meetings, training, and maintain office operations.
- Coordinate with other providers involved in patient care.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Receptionist experience.
- Minimum 1 year of Medent experience.
- At least 2 years of Customer Service experience.

- Pay: $18.00 - $24.50/hour
