Overview

Christian Hospital has served St. Louis and surrounding areas since 1903. It is ranked No. 5 in St. Louis for overall clinical excellence and No. 9 in Missouri by U.S. News & World Report, placing it in the top 6% of hospitals in the state.

It is nationally ranked as “high performing” in geriatrics and seven common procedures/conditions: heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, diabetes, COPD, pneumonia, and stroke.

Northwest HealthCare, located six miles west of Christian Hospital, offers 24-hour emergency care, outpatient diagnostic, and imaging services.

Patients admitted to Oncology are primarily those with cancer, hematological disorders, anemia, immuno-compromised conditions, sickle cell disease, or other medical diagnoses such as pneumonia, diabetes, CHF, GI bleeding, and renal failure, aged 16 and above.

Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, within nursing care standards.

Responsibilities
  • Promote patient and family-centered care in a healing environment. Educate patients and families on managing illness or injury, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
  • Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engage in professional development.
  • Develop, implement, and document individualized care plans with clear goals, collaborating with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregiver, and ensuring communication across care continuum.
  • Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient preferences, values, and cultural factors.
  • This is a safety-sensitive position; the ability to work safely and in a constant state of alertness is essential.
