Job summary

UNC Health Care in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Patient Access Coordinator to perform patient check-in/out, handle billing information, and provide excellent service using our computer systems.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, with preferred completion of a medical administrative assisting program and prior medical office experience. Full-time, onsite role at NC Health locations with standard hours.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prefer completion of an accredited medical administrative assisting program.
  • Prior experience in a medical office is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with revenue cycle and financial audit guidelines.
  • Provide courteous computer support, answer phones promptly, and provide complete and accurate information.
  • Perform patient check-in and check-out with accurate billing and insurance verification, code visits (ICD/CPT), balance daily receipts, and schedule appointments.
  • Order and maintain clinical and office supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure safety and regulatory compliance (HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention) and participate in performance improvement activities.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service and effective communication with patients, families, and staff.
