AdventHealth in Daytona Beach is hiring for a medical billing specialist. The role handles patient billing, scheduling, and insurance verification in a fast-paced office. You will manage check-in/out, update records in Athena EMR, and liaise with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow.

Required are 2+ years in a medical office with billing experience, plus strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding. This full-time position offers Day One benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 2+ years experience in a medical office with billing, coding, charge entry and payment collection.
• Technical knowledge in medical insurance billing fields.
• Proficiency using small office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Answers telephone calls promptly and courteously, identifies practice, takes messages, triages according to policy, and schedules appointments.
• Transfers calls in a courteous and professional manner, delivering messages timely.
• Manages patient check-in/out and updates insurance and personal information in Athena for accurate billing; obtains signatures on required forms.
• Notifies clinical staff of arrivals, registers encounters in EMR, and scans insurance cards.
• Posts billing charges, verifies coverage for new patients, reviews aging reports, and arranges payment plans for self-pay patients.
• Reschedules patients when physicians are unavailable and follows up on next day appointments.
