Job summary

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is a healthcare entity within the Medical University of South Carolina delivering care across rural networks in South Carolina. This PRN, hourly front desk role involves administrative coverage, answering clinic lines, scheduling, registrations, and billing activities to ensure smooth operations of the physician office.

Minimum education includes a high school diploma with healthcare experience; prior hospital IT or word processing experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency plus one year of patient care experience in a health care facility; or a Certified Nursing Assistant; or successful completion of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant course at an accredited institution or equivalent training; or EMT or Paramedic certification; or a Bachelor’s degree.
• Previous experience with hospital information systems or word processing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative coverage at the front desk of the Clinic including monitoring the clinic appointment line and scheduling appointments for clients from outside medical, hospital, correction systems.
• Answer multiline telephones and take payments for clinical services; complete client registration and documentation.
• Schedule interpreters for clients and retrieve billing charges.
• Coordinate daily clinic preparation, patient check in/out, charge posting, and cash management; assist with referrals management and customer service.

Job Description

To provide constant and efficient operations of the physician medical office. Duties to include scheduling, patient registration, telephone triage, medical records, billing, and collections. Coordinate and participate in a variety of duties associated with daily clinic preparation process, patient identification, patient check in/out, charge posting, cash management and patient appointment scheduling. Position also involves customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling and preparation, and referrals management.
