Job summary

University of Maryland Faculty Physician’s Inc. seeks a Medical Assistant in Baltimore to assist physicians and nursing staff in patient care and to perform front desk duties. The role involves taking vitals, injections, basic tests, venipuncture, and supporting with procedures and registrations.

Required are a Medical Assistant certification, CPR, and an accredited MA program. Proficiency with EPIC or similar systems is expected, with opportunities in a comprehensive rewards package.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program from an accredited institution.
• Medical Assistant certification (NAHP, NCCT, AAMA, NHA, AMT, etc.) is required.
• CPR certification required.
• Knowledge of payer requirements for referrals and pre-authorization.
• Knowledge of GE, EPIC or similar computerized billing system.
• Graduation from an accredited training program or 5+ years of supervised work experience in a medical setting.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and documents brief history and chief complaint in the medical record.
• Assists physicians and nursing staff in patient care and with examinations.
• Performs routine office testing and venipuncture.
• Performs front desk and clerical duties including registration and scheduling.
• Supports with procedures and minor surgical procedures.
