Job summary

University of Maryland Faculty Physician’s Inc. seeks a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nursing staff in patient care and clinic operations.

Responsibilities include taking vitals, injections, and assisting with patient flow, while also managing registration, scheduling and insurance verification. The role requires Medical Assistant certification, CPR, venipuncture skills and knowledge of billing systems such as EPIC.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Graduation from an accredited training program or 3–5 years of supervised work experience in a medical setting.
• Medical Assistant certification required (NAHP, NCCT, AAMA, NHA, AMT, etc.).
• Demonstrated venipuncture skills.
• Ability to perform all medical assisting responsibilities under state and faculty guidelines.
• CPR certification required.
• General understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Knowledge of payer requirements for referrals and pre-authorization.
• Knowledge of GE, EPIC or similar computerized billing system.
• Medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist physicians and nursing staff in patient care, including patient flow, vitals, injections and related duties.
• Maintain nurses' stations, exam and procedure rooms.
• Perform front desk/clerical duties: complete demographic and insurance registration, charge entry, scheduling and insurance verification.
• Utilize electronic system according to SOP and department procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
