The Medical Assistant will collect vitals, administer immunizations per provider orders, perform basic lab tasks, maintain aseptic technique, and assist with retinal screening and data entry in the electronic system.

Qualifications

• Collects and records patient data including height, weight, BMI, temperature, pulse, respiration rate and blood pressure.
• Performs basic clerical tasks and scheduling.
• Under supervision, administers immunizations and basic tests per provider orders.

Responsibilities

• The Medical Assistant performs routine (noninvasive) patient care functions as described by license health care personnel following established clinical protocols, policies and procedures within defined scope of education, training and responsibilities.
• Collects urine, sputum and stool specimens by noninvasive techniques.
• Performs venipuncture to obtain blood specimens.
• Performs simple lab tests, including urine pregnancy tests and finger sticks after training.
