Job description

Job Summary:

The Providence Center helps adults, adolescents, and children affected by psychiatric illnesses, emotional problems, and addictions by providing treatment and supportive services within a community setting.

The Medical Office Assistant Bilingual at The Providence Center will greet visitors, schedule appointments, respond to telephone callers, and take messages.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Collect demographic data, verify insurance coverage, outstanding deductible amounts, and collect fees as appropriate.
  2. Collaborate with Access/Intake staff to facilitate the pre-admission process.
  3. Enter and confirm all demographic and insurance information.
  4. Determine and collect deductibles and co-pays, as appropriate.
  5. Respond to incoming calls from outside agencies, insurance companies, staff, and consumers.
  6. Refer clients to the appropriate staff member, service component, or community resource.
  7. Assist in retrieving all documents promptly to ensure clients are seen for their access appointments.
  8. Cover main reception during staff lunch breaks, sick leave, and vacation time.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma with a business background and two years of experience with third-party reimbursement, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment.
  • Excellent typing, spelling, and grammar skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • General computer proficiency.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is required.
