Job summary

Native American Health Center is seeking a Medical Member Services I, On Call to join our Medical department in Oakland, CA. The role schedules appointments, routes calls, and assists members with inquiries, providing courteous, bilingual service in English and Spanish.

The MMSC works within Epic EHR, supports patient portal messages, and helps manage waiting room flow during busy periods. This position is on-call with potential for regular shifts, and requires excellent customer service and

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree, or 2 years’ experience working as a medical or dental receptionist or registrar.
• Fluency in English and Spanish, both written and verbal, is required.
• Experience using an electronic health record system.
• Superior customer service skills.
• Provide TB and Physical clearance prior to start date.
• Furnish vaccination history prior to start date depending on role.
• BLS/CPR certification obtained prior to start date and kept current.
• Proficient at Microsoft Office Suite and type at least 30 WPM.

Responsibilities

• Greet members in a courteous, helpful and professional manner, over the phone and in person.
• Schedule member appointments by coordinating with providers and following protocol.
• Proactively manage appointment schedules to optimize capacity.
• Answer calls, messages, and emails per protocol and system standards.
• Manage the medical appointment voicemail and outbound greetings.
• Make appointment reminder calls and document in Epic.
• Route messages to providers and care team members as appropriate.
• Manage member portal communication and account alerts.
• Document member contact in the electronic health record.
• Support enrollment and communication campaigns when directed.
• Assist with opening medical provider schedules as requested.
• Handle inquiries during incoming calls and assist accordingly.
