Job summary

Native American Health Center Inc. seeks a Medical Assistant I to join the Medical Department in Oakland. The MA I assists clinicians, manages patient flow, and executes standing orders in a primary care setting.

Responsibilities include exam room prep, patient interviewing, phlebotomy, immunization tracking, and coordination with care teams. Must be bilingual, with MA training and CPR/BLS certification, and willing to work varied shifts.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Certificate of completion from an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
• Fluency in both English and Spanish, both written and verbal is required, per operational need.
• Must be computer literate, including Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook and EHR knowledge.
• BLS/CPR certification must be obtained prior to start date and kept current.
• Vaccination requirements: TB, Physical, seasonal flu, Measles/Mumps/Rubella/Varicella/TDAP & Hepatitis B suitability.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily huddles with the care team.
• Prepare exam room for member visits and keep it stocked.
• Admit members, interview, and assist with procedures.
• Perform standing orders and phlebotomy as indicated.
• Maintain PHI confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Train new Medical Assistants and support team coverage.
