Job summary

Native American Health Center is seeking a Medical Assistant I, On-Call, to support School-Based Health Centers across multiple site locations in the Bay Area. The role involves assisting providers, managing patient flow, and performing administrative duties under RN supervision.

The position is travel-based across SBHC sites, offering 75% FTE and union, non-exempt status. The MAI will participate in care coordination, patient education, and vaccine coordination as needed.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and initiates medical visit in a welcoming and supportive fashion appropriate to patients' needs.
• Review patient chart and prepare vaccine report for daily morning huddles.
• Ensure patients are roomed and discharged efficiently.
• Prepare exam room for patient visits.
• Conduct an initial interview; record results in the EHR.
• Record vitals (pulse, temperature, BP, weight, height) in the EHR.
• Perform blood tests, EKGs, visual acuity, urine and hearing tests as needed.
• Collect specimens for testing.
• Update patient information as needed.
