Job summary

Ascendion is seeking an experienced Senior Medical Malpractice Attorney to independently manage a caseload of complex medical negligence matters from intake through trial, while mentoring junior associates.

Responsibilities include handling cases against physicians, hospitals, and other healthcare providers, filing affidavits of merit, and guiding depositions and motions through trial or mediation.

Qualifications

• Attorney with a J.D. and active New Jersey license; New York admission a plus.
• 5–7+ years litigating medical malpractice or complex personal injury cases.
• Strong trial, deposition, and motion practice experience.
• Solid knowledge of New Jersey malpractice statutes and procedure.
• Excellent client communication and case management skills.

• Establish duty, breach, causation, and damages; identify the correct medical specialty and retain expert witnesses
• Draft and file Affidavits of Merit per N.J.S.A. 2A:53A-27 within the 60-day deadline
• Handle birth injury, misdiagnosis, surgical error, medication error, and informed consent cases
• Apply NJ statute of limitations rules, including the discovery rule and minor/wrongful death exceptions
• Advise on recoverable damages under NJ law
• Take depositions, argue motions, and represent clients at trial and mediation
• Supervise and mentor associates

Salary and Other Compensation:

The base salary for this position is $160,000–$180,000 annually. Factors that may affect pay within this range include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
