Job summary

The Medical College of Wisconsin, Inc. is seeking an entry-level librarian to support faculty, students, and staff with reference services and instructional programs.

Under supervision, you will develop library skills training, LibGuides content, and online tutorials, while assisting researchers with literature searches and information needs. You will engage with multiple departments to understand information needs, contribute to library instruction, and participate in ongoing professional

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited institution or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a library setting.
• Knowledge of health sciences information resources and search strategy development.
• Experience designing instructional content and LibGuides/pages.
• Strong written and verbal communication with a customer-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement library training activities including classes, LibGuides pages, and online tutorials.
• Provide effective reference service by answering LibAnswers and performing literature searches (PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, Embase).
• Raise awareness of library resources by contacting departments and offering group and one-on-one trainings.
• Maintain LibGuides webpages with new content following best practices.
• Participate in Medical Library Association continuing education to stay current.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
