Job summary

Patients Emergency Room and Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist in Baytown, TX. You will perform moderate complexity testing, ensure result accuracy, and maintain compliance with CLIA and hospital standards.

The role requires state-of-the-art handling of specimens, calibration, and instrument maintenance, plus collaboration with leadership and nursing staff to ensure patient safety and quality results.

Qualifications

• Current CPR certification and knowledge of CLIA/COLA standards and infection control procedures.
• Continuing education and professional development as required by CLIA and hospital policy.
• Prior experience in laboratory quality assurance or compliance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform moderate complexity laboratory testing according to established procedures and manufacturer guidelines.
• Ensure accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of all test results.
• Follow all specimen handling, labeling, and processing protocols.
• Perform, document, and review quality control, calibration, and instrument maintenance.
• Troubleshoot analytical or instrument issues and initiate corrective actions as required.
• Maintain accurate and complete testing records in accordance with CLIA and hospital policy.
• Participate in proficiency testing and quality assurance programs.
• Assist Laboratory Director in reviewing quality control data and regulatory documentation.
• Advise staff in understanding test performance and clinical relevance.
• Provide training and competency assessments for testing personnel.
• Participate in evaluation and implementation of new test methods and equipment.
• Assist with development and revision of laboratory policies and procedures.
• Ensure testing is in compliance with CLIA, COLA, OSHA regulations.
• Monitor and document corrective actions from quality reviews.
• Communicate with leadership and medical staff regarding lab operations and results.
