Job summary

Southcoast Health in Wareham, MA seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to join Tobey Hospital's lab team. This full-time role offers day shifts (approx. 6:30am-3:00pm, 7:00am-3:30pm, or 8:00am-4:30pm) with weekend and holiday rotation.

The ideal candidate will hold an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science and ASCP certification, with at least one year of diverse lab experience. We provide competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and a supportive, inclusive work culture.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science required.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician from ASCP, or equivalent within one year of hire.
• One year of experience in multiple laboratory disciplines including Chemistry, Hematology and Blood Bank preferred.
• Medical Laboratory Technician certification from ASCP, or equivalent certification is required within one year of date of hire.
• Vaccination against seasonal influenza and COVID-19 or exemption via signed statement if hired.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, perform routine laboratory analysis with accuracy and precision according to procedures.
• Identify critical/unexpected results and verify per procedures; notify supervisor or clinical specialist.
• Prepare samples for analysis; draw correct specimen and volume; assign accession numbers; maintain neat workstation.

We are searching for a talented Medical Laboratory Technician

Hours: 40hrs

Shift: Day shift, 6:30am - 3:00pm, 7:00am - 3:30pm, 8:00am - 4:30pm with weekend and holiday rotation

Location: Tobey Hospital - Wareham, MA

Under the general supervision and direction of the Manager, Laboratory or designee, perform all routine laboratory analysis with accuracy and precision and according to written procedures. Identify all critical or unexpected results and verify results according to established procedures. Notify Supervisor or Clinical Specialist as appropriate. Prepare samples for analysis. Draw correct specimen and volume. Assign accession numbers. Maintain workstation in a neat and orderly fashion.

• Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Science required.
• Also required is certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or equivalent certification within one year of date of hire.
• One year of experience in multiple laboratory disciplines including Chemistry, Hematology and Blood Bank preferred.
• Medical Laboratory Technician certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or equivalent certification is required within one year of date of hire.
• Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired

Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
