Aspire Medical Staffing is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician at Fort Cavazos, Killeen, TX, to support the Armed Services Blood Program and Army Blood Program. The role involves collecting, processing, testing, and distributing blood products to military facilities worldwide, ensuring life-saving support for service members, veterans, and families.

Schedule:
- Typically 40 hours/week, with shifts between 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., including:
- 0730-1600 with a 30-minute lunch
- 0730-1630 with a 1-hour lunch
Blood drives may require longer days, up to 12 hours, scheduled during peak hours, with transportation provided for drives outside a 40-mile radius. Travel time during blood drives counts as paid work hours.Work may involve travel, overnight stays, and working in different departments. No compensatory time is authorized.Responsibilities:
- Rotate through various blood donor center sections: Registration, Interview/Vitals, Bag Issue, and Phlebotomy.
- Perform standardized blood banking tests and procedures, including complex tasks as needed.
- Assist with mobile blood drives, setup, breakdown, and supply handling.
- Train new staff, students, and military personnel.
- Screen donors, obtain medical histories, and ensure donor eligibility per FDA and SOP guidelines.
- Take vital signs, check hemoglobin/hematocrit, and record donation data.
- Prepare, store, and document blood units and samples.
- Review test results, enter data, and follow up on discrepancies.
- Conduct apheresis procedures and perform tests in hematology and blood bank sections.
Qualifications:
- Certificate from an accredited medical laboratory technician training program (NAACLS, ABHES, or equivalent).
- Certification as Medical Laboratory Technician by ASCP, AMT, or approved agency.
- BLS Certification.
- At least one year of clinical laboratory experience in relevant sections.
