THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE CAN BE BASED ANYWHERE IN ENGLAND. THIS IS A REMOTE ROLE WITH NATIONAL TRAVEL TO LEARNERS ON SITE.
Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician Assessor to undertake effective competence assessment in the workplace, supporting learners with gaps in their theoretical knowledge. To enthuse, inspire, and motivate apprentices to reach their full potential and maintain high timely progression, achievement, and success rates.
To implement quality policies and practices ensuring fair and consistent assessment.
Key Accountabilities:
- Ensure consistency and compliance with internal and external policies, procedures, guidelines, and requirements.
- Carry out effective induction and initial assessments/diagnostics to ensure learners are on the right programme and receiving appropriate support, considering prior learning.
- Work with the quality team to ensure the curriculum's impact on apprentices is visible throughout their learning journey.
- Ensure all learners receive high-quality IAG throughout their apprenticeship.
- Utilize learner management and e-portfolio systems to monitor learner progress and conduct reviews.
- Provide compliant documentation to meet Department for Education requirements and audit off-the-job recording logs.
- Collaborate with employers and management to plan and deliver training on knowledge, skills, and behaviors, including maths and English development.
- Implement new technologies, including learning materials and remote learning software, to enhance the learning experience.
- Promote and safeguard learner welfare, adhering to safeguarding policies.
- Prepare learners for assessments and exams, ensuring knowledge retention.
- Record assessment decisions and complete IQA and quality actions promptly.
- Prepare learners for end-point assessments in line with policies.
- Participate in moderation and standardization activities and implement feedback for continuous improvement.
- Meet KPIs related to learner achievement and reflect on personal practice for development.
- Report and respond to quality team requests timely.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Evaluate and improve teaching, learning, and assessment based on feedback.
- Assess learners' work, provide feedback, and set objectives.
- Participate in standardization to ensure fair assessment practices.
- Ensure assessments comply with guidelines and evidence standards.
- Review off-the-job activities and intervene to keep learners on track.
Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:
Essential:
- Industry-relevant qualification to at least level 3 (C&G / BTEC or equivalent).
- Assessor qualification (TAQA/A Units or equivalent) or willingness to work towards.
- Experience as a laboratory technician/scientist.
- Experience assessing others' work to a standard.
- Recent CPD and knowledge of Health & Safety, Safeguarding, and E&D practices.
Desired:
- Internal Quality Assurance qualification.
- Understanding of Ofsted’s Inspection Framework.
- Experience with apprenticeships and quality standards like ISO9001.
- Experience with electronic tracking systems such as Smartassessor, OneFile, BUD.
This role requires a full enhanced DBS check and regular travel across parts of England.
