Job summary

The Medical Technologist II at Virginia Commonwealth University Health Systems provides accurate and timely testing and results to physicians and other health care professionals for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease. A strong commitment to teamwork and customer service is essential.

Required are ASCP/NCA/AMT or equivalent certification and a CLS/MT education background; bachelor’s and possibly master’s level education is preferred with CMP maintenance where applicable.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in CLS/BSCLS from an NAACLS-accredited program or equivalent Biological Science degree with CLS/MT certificate.
• 5+ years of on-the-job training in a hospital health care environment performing high complexity testing is preferred.
• Certification maintenance per CMP; ASCP/NCA/AMT or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate and timely testing and results to physicians and health care professionals.
• Maintain excellent customer service with internal and external customers at all times.
• Uphold professional interpersonal standards and strong teamwork commitment.

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (BSCLS) from an accredited program

Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science with NAACLS CLS/MT certificate program

Master's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science (MSCLS) preferred
