Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health is seeking a Medical Technologist/Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist to perform accurate and timely testing for diagnosis and treatment, operate and maintain lab equipment, and contribute to a collaborative team.

The role requires a BSCLS or equivalent with NAACLS-accredited CLS/MT certification and eligibility to obtain licensure, with an emphasis on quality control, training, and adherence to accreditation standards.

Qualifications

• Education: BSCLS from an accredited program or a Biological Science degree plus NAACLS-accredited CLS/MT certificate program OR Biological Science degree with 5+ years hospital-based high complexity testing training.
• Preferred: MSCLS from an accredited program.

Responsibilities

• Performs laboratory tests according to established procedures.
• Operates, maintains, troubleshoots, and validates lab equipment.
• Performs, documents quality control, and follows established quality assurance guidelines.
• Assists in educating and training laboratory personnel, students, and residents.
• Maintains laboratory supplies and inventory.
