Job summary

Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Inc. seeks a dedicated laboratory professional to perform and verify a broad range of diagnostic tests and report findings to pathologists and clinicians.

Essential duties include specimen preparation, complex testing across multiple disciplines, instrument start-up, QC, calibration, maintenance, inventory support, data entry into LIS, QA/QI participation, and ongoing education to stay current in laboratory medicine.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science / Medical Technology or Biological Science
• ASCP certified generalist or categorical Technologist or equivalent accreditation or letter of Technologist eligibility from ASCP required
• Experience with computers required, including web based applications and Microsoft applications

Responsibilities

• Prepares specimens for examination
• Performs complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and/or bacteriological tests
• Uses automated equipment and instruments capable of performing tests simultaneously
• Performs and documents start-up, quality control, calibration and preventative maintenance on instruments
• Assists with inventory management and reports results to providers
• Enters test results into LIS and reports critical/urgent results

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science / Medical Technology or Biological Science
