Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to verify sample IDs, assess specimen acceptability, and perform complex tests following established procedures in a fast-paced clinical lab in Massachusetts.

You will operate automated instruments, run QC/calibration, enter results into LIS, report critical values to providers, and participate in QA/QI projects and ongoing education to stay current.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree with a concentration in science.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• Strong analytical and manual dexterity; able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Verify sample identification, assess acceptability of sample, and appropriateness of order according to written procedures.
• Prepare specimens for examination and perform complex tests according to established laboratory procedures.
• Use automated equipment and instruments capable of performing tests simultaneously; perform startup, QC, calibration and maintenance.
• Enter results into LIS and report critical/urgent results to providers.
• Participate in QA/QI projects and assist in teaching new colleagues and students.
