Job summary

Penn State Health Hershey Medical Center is seeking a Medical Laboratory Science Program Director to oversee organization, administration, instruction, evaluation, curriculum planning, and staff direction for the MLS program at Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Ideal candidates hold an advanced degree and ASCP certification, with several years in both CLIA-certified labs and teaching, and familiarity with NAACLS accreditation processes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required.
• ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as MLS/Medical Technologist.
• Three (3) years’ experience in a CLIA certified clinical/medical diagnostic laboratory.
• Three (3) years’ teaching experience (bench teaching or program level teaching).

Responsibilities

• Organize and administer the MLS program.
• Direct faculty and staff; evaluate curriculum and outcomes.
• Plan development and ensure program effectiveness.
• Oversee accreditation-related activities and quality improvement.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Medical Laboratory Science Program director is responsible for organization, administration, instruction, evaluation, continuous quality improvement, curriculum planning and development, directing other program faculty/staff, and general effectiveness of the MLS program.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

• Master's Degree required
• Holds ASCP-BOC or ASCPi-BOC generalist certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist
• Three (3) years’ experience in a CLIA certified clinical/medical diagnostic laboratory
• Three (3) years’ teaching experience (bench teaching or program level teaching)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

• Has knowledge of education methods and NAACLS accreditation procedures and certification procedures]
• Has participated in NAACLS accreditation process (as educator in NAACLS-accredited program, site visitor, self-study paper reviewer, etc.)
