Job summary

The Medical Lab Technician/UKHC supports pre-analytical processes in a fast-paced academic medical center at the Good Samaritan Laboratory. The MLT handles receipt, processing, and throughput of patient specimens while upholding HIPAA.

It performs waived testing and assists other labs across the Enterprise, delivering strong customer service in a CAP-accredited environment. Team-oriented, capable of problem-solving, and able to multi-task, the MLT contributes to the overall laboratory operations

Job description

The Medical Lab Technician/UKHC will be responsible for assisting in the pre-analytical support for a fast-paced academic medical center. The Laboratory provides services to all aspects of the Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center. This position is in the Good Samaritan Laboratory. The MLT will provide general laboratory receipt, processing, and throughput of patient specimens while adhering to HIPAA requirements. The MLT will also perform waived patient testing. The MLT will also provide support to all other clinical laboratories within the Enterprise, as well as customer service for all internal and external customers. This is a team-oriented environment and a successful candidate will be able to problem-solve, troubleshoot, and multi-task.
