Physical Requirements: Regularly standing or walking with objects up to 10 lbs., repetitive motion and utilizing a computer for long periods of time. Ability to traverse campus to work at multiple locations.
Shift: The department operates 24/7. Primary shift to be determined; candidate must be available to work rotating weekends, holidays and other shifts as needed.
Job Summary: The Medical Lab Technician/UKHC will assist in pre-analytical support for a fast-paced academic medical center. The Laboratory provides services to all aspects of the Level I trauma center and throughout the healthcare enterprise, including solid organ and bone marrow transplant, KY Children’s Hospital, and Markey Cancer Center. The MLT will provide general laboratory receipt, processing, and throughput of patient specimens while adhering to HIPAA requirements. The MLT will also provide support to all other clinical laboratories within the Enterprise, as well as customer service for all internal and external customers. This is a team-oriented environment; the candidate should be able to problem-solve, troubleshoot, and multi-task. This CAP Accredited Laboratory at the University of Kentucky showcases the use of state-of-the-art instrumentation and technology.
