Job summary

South Texas Spine & Surgical Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist to independently perform routine and specialized laboratory tests under supervision. The role includes phlebotomy, clerical tasks, and collaboration with the Laboratory Manager and staff to ensure accurate results and patient safety.

Candidates should have an associate degree in medical laboratory technology and MLT/MT certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from a two-year training program in medical laboratory technology.
• Certification as an MLT/MT (ASCP, AMT or equivalent) is preferred.
• BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs and evaluates routine and specialized laboratory tests.
• Performs phlebotomy and clerical duties as needed.
• Communicates effectively with peers, medical staff, patients, families and visitors.
• Maintains HIPAA privacy and confidentiality of patient information.
• Interprets test results and applies them to patient care as described in department policies.
